Crowds Pack Aoyama: Cybercab Japan Tour Opens in Tokyo

AUSTIN, Texas - The Cybercab that riders can already hail in Austin is now standing still in Tokyo, and the crowd pressed in close enough that the gold two-seater looked more like a product launch than a static display.

Tesla Japan posted the first public reveal of the wheel-less cab in Japan on Friday, linking a domestic tour page and framing the car as designed from zero for unsupervised taxi work. Elon Musk amplified the post. Within the same overnight window, Sawyer Merritt published the rest-of-month schedule - Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, then Shinjuku - and Nic Cruz Patane posted photos of a dense ring of people around the car at the Aoyama stop.

The schedule he listed is short. OMAKASE Aoyama Garden by GMO is the first stop, Sept. 11 through Sept. 14. Tesla Grand Front Osaka follows Sept. 17 through Sept. 20. Tesla Nagoya Noritake is Sept. 22 and 23. Tesla Shinjuku closes the run Sept. 26 through 28.

Ken Maeda, posting from the scene and tagging Tesla's Robotaxi account, wrote that Cybercab had arrived in Japan. Media packed Aoyama this morning, he said. "The attention is already huge."

The car on the deck is the same purpose-built coupe Tesla is hailing in Austin today. There is no steering wheel. There are no pedals. Japan is showing the vehicle. Tesla has not opened Robotaxi hails in Tokyo.

Merritt posted the four-city list on X on Friday. The desk is filing it as display reporting, not a service launch.
