Ride window’s closed — five Austin Cybercab tickets drawn Tuesday

The consumer sideshow is over. Tesla’s Cybercab launch sweepstakes took automatic entries from Robotaxi rides in Austin between Aug. 17 and 23, plus a mail-in path for people who never sat in a Model Y. Five winners are randomly selected and emailed on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Tesla’s Robotaxi account has said notifications go out by 9 a.m. Winners have 24 hours to answer or the seat moves.
The prize is not a car. It is a seat at the Sept. 3 event plus branded items Tesla values at $25. Official rules put the venue at Tesla Austin, 1 Tesla Road — the factory. Transportation is not included. It is a very Tesla way to fill a room: turn the existing service into a raffle for the next one, then make the winner buy the plane ticket.
It is also a data collection pass dressed as a prize. Every sweepstakes ride is another trip in the log, another rider who already has the app, another person who might hail a two-seater in September without thinking of it as a stunt. The rest of Austin waits for Sept. 3, when exclusive access stops being a sentence on a promo card and becomes a gold car at the curb.
