Pacific Place Week Begins: Cybercab Opens Its Second Hong Kong Mall Stop

A Cybercab static display is on the floor at Pacific Place in Admiralty through Sept. 20, with a 15-minute guided look. Asia tour stop, not a Hong Kong hail launch.

HONG KONG - Tesla's Asia Cybercab tour moved into Pacific Place in Admiralty on Thursday, opening a four-day public display that follows the first Hong Kong mall stop at ELEMENTS and keeps the purpose-built robotaxi in front of ordinary shoppers rather than behind a closed media rope.

A tip photograph circulated Thursday shows a gold Cybercab on the Pacific Place floor under bright retail lighting, with butterfly doors raised and the cabin open for a close look. The schedule for this Admiralty stop runs Sept. 17 through Sept. 20. Tesla Hong Kong had already published that calendar in early September as the middle leg of a three-venue Hong Kong circuit: ELEMENTS in West Kowloon from Sept. 9 to 15, Pacific Place from Sept. 17 to 20, and the Tesla AIRSIDE experience center in Kai Tak from Sept. 22 to 27.

This is a Cities story about access and the Asia tour calendar. It is not a claim that Hong Kong riders can open an app and pay for a Cybercab fare tonight. Austin remains the market where unsupervised Cybercab hails are live in Tesla's Robotaxi app when a car is available, a service that began in limited zones on Sept. 3. Hong Kong's Thursday filing is about letting the public stand beside the hardware in a major Admiralty mall during posted hours.

Pacific Place sits above Admiralty Station, in a dense mix of offices, hotels, and premium retail that already draws heavy foot traffic on weekdays. Putting Cybercab there for a second mall week is a deliberate brand choice: meet shoppers where they already walk, under atrium light, with a guided format that keeps the platform orderly. Tesla Hong Kong's early-September note described public guided sessions of about 15 minutes for groups of up to 12 people at the mall stops, with online reservations and a limited Asia-tour souvenir for visitors who complete a tour or a Model 3 or Model Y test drive.

Static display is the right phrase. The Thursday tip and the Tesla Hong Kong schedule describe an exhibition stop. They do not describe unsupervised street service, a Robotaxi app geofence for Hong Kong, or a local fare schedule. Readers who conflate a tour floor with a hail map will misread both Admiralty and Austin. The honest filing keeps those lanes separate.

ELEMENTS closed its window on Sept. 15. Pacific Place opens the next chapter without a gap long enough for the product to leave the city conversation. AIRSIDE still waits as the third Hong Kong venue later in the month. That sequencing matters for Cities desk work: the same car, three named addresses, one clear message that the Asia tour is a meet-the-product circuit rather than a soft launch of paid rides.

Keep the geography honest relative to Austin. In Texas, the product question this month is wait times, fares, and whether a Cybercab appears in the app for a real trip. In Hong Kong on Thursday, the product question is simpler and still meaningful: can an ordinary visitor book a short guided look at Pacific Place and study the cabin without a special industry pass? The published calendar says yes for Sept. 17 to 20, during daytime and evening mall hours.

Tesla has kept the car in a good light through the Asia-Pacific circuit, from covered Japan stops to Shanghai and Beijing mall floors already on this week's wire. The Pacific Place opening continues that pattern. A named mall. A dated window. A real Cybercab on a retail floor. No need to invent a service claim the company has not published for Hong Kong streets.

For readers following Cybercab from Austin curb clips to overseas showrooms, Thursday is the day Admiralty shoppers get their turn at the rope line. The Australia and New Zealand tour legs already on Tesla's public events calendar show the same outward arc: put the purpose-built robotaxi in front of people in more cities, while paid unsupervised rides stay where Tesla has actually opened them. Pacific Place is the second Hong Kong chapter of that arc, filed on opening day with the mall still open for business.
