Phoenix and Vegas Wait: Permits and Training Still Ahead
Tesla listed both metros as in preparation through the summer. Neither has a public launch date.

Phoenix and Las Vegas have been on Tesla's Robotaxi expansion list since last year. They are still on it.
The company's second-quarter update said preparation for additional metros continued, including testing, permitting, and first-responder training. Las Vegas was called out again in late August. No launch week was attached.
Both cities already know robotaxis. Waymo has run Phoenix for years. Las Vegas has been a showcase market for more than one operator. Tesla's advantage, if it arrives, is a cheaper two-seat cab and a form that now invites other companies to buy fleets.
Until the permits clear, those cities remain a line on a slide, not a pin on the unsupervised map.
Claire Bennett covers the Robotaxi map, fleet counts, and the cities still waiting.
