Cybercab Rides Open to the Public Friday at 5 p.m.

Tesla’s Robotaxi account set the clock Thursday night at 5 p.m. Central. Tesla later moved public access to 2 p.m. CT, citing demand.

AUSTIN, Texas - Tesla’s Robotaxi account said Cybercab rides open to the public Friday at 5 p.m. Central time, putting a firm clock on general app access after Thursday’s invite-only Exclusive Access night.

The post, published Thursday evening Austin time on the official @robotaxi account, was five words of schedule and no media: “Cybercab rides open to public tomorrow 5pm CT.” Tomorrow, from that post, is Friday, September 4. The stamp looked like Friday morning in London. In Central time it was still Thursday night, which is why the clock is Friday afternoon, not Saturday.

That timing matters for readers who watched Thursday’s closed-door gathering at ACL Live and the overnight Tesla video posts that followed. Exclusive Access put selected guests in the two-seat cab. The Robotaxi account is now saying the wider public window starts Friday afternoon, not the moment the event ended.

Tesla’s main account spent the same overnight window pushing four Cybercab clips: a safety claim that the vehicle is engineered to be the safest car on the road; a cabin pitch for theater, music and gaming on a 22-inch touchscreen, with V5 Starlink hardware “soon”; a rider-experience spot; and a line that Cybercab is “democratizing clean transportation for all.” Elon Musk quote-posted the safety video under the caption “Cybercab safety,” then separately praised electric brakes that avoid hydraulic plumbing and a Cybercab motor that uses no rare-earth metals while keeping the same range.

None of those posts named the Friday 5 p.m. Central open. The schedule came from @robotaxi alone. Tesla has not, in those posts, published separate Cybercab fares or promised that every Austin Robotaxi request will return a Cybercab rather than a Model Y.

Riders already see Cybercab in the Robotaxi app lineup in Austin, including a booking screen that lists the two-seat cab beside the four-seat Model Y. The official account’s Friday clock is the clearest public statement yet on when general rides are meant to begin.

Update, Friday afternoon: Tesla’s Robotaxi account later pulled the public open forward to 2 p.m. Central, citing popular demand.
