Tesla’s Robotaxi Account Says It Drove a Million Miles Alone
A Friday morning one-liner from @robotaxi puts an official stamp on unsupervised fleet mileage. Ashok Elluswamy spent the same hour calling Cybercab a real product for everyone.

AUSTIN, Texas - Tesla’s Robotaxi account said Friday that the driverless fleet has done a million miles by itself, putting a company stamp on the unsupervised mark that launched with Cybercab week.
The post landed before dawn Central time as a wry one-liner: “I’m growin’ up ma, I did a million miles by myself.” No chart, no video, no fine print - just the official account claiming seven figures of unsupervised operation.
That matters because the figure had floated through Exclusive Access coverage without a matching Robotaxi post. Now the service account that books Austin rides is saying it out loud. Unsupervised, in Tesla’s usage, means the car and its software handle the trip without a safety driver in the seat - the same mode that has carried paying Model Y Robotaxi riders and the same stack the purpose-built Cybercab is joining.
In the same early window, Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s Autopilot and AI vice president, posted that he still could not quite believe Cybercab was a real product - “Yet, as of today, it is!” - and thank-you notes to supporters. He also shared a line that Cybercab is “for everyone, on every corner of earth.” The Robotaxi account quote-posted that pitch as “Cybercab, the people’s cab.”
The million miles remain a network number, not a Cybercab-only odometer. Texas still listed about 45 Cybercabs on the robotaxi roster ahead of launch, beside a much larger Model Y fleet. Public Cybercab rides are on the calendar for Friday at 5 p.m. Central through the Robotaxi app, where riders can already see the two-seater listed beside the Model Y.
