Tesla’s Robotaxi Account Posts One Word: Cybercab

No poster. No time. No livestream. Tesla’s AI chief replied three times. The Austin night was two days away.

AUSTIN, Texas — Tesla’s Robotaxi account posted a single word on Tuesday afternoon: Cybercab. No poster. No time. No livestream link. The post went up at 12:46 p.m. here, two days before the invite-only night.

Ashok Elluswamy, who leads Tesla’s AI work, replied a few minutes later: Cybercab Cybercab Cybercab. That is the closest thing Tesla has said in public today. The company has not added a new fact about fares, public hails, or how many of the 45 Cybercabs on the Texas registry will be in the guest loop on Thursday.

The account is the same feed Tesla used to sell the sweepstakes that filled part of the guest list. Robotaxi rides in Austin from Aug. 17 to 23 were automatic entries. Five winners were to be emailed Aug. 25. Tesla has not published names. Travel to Giga Texas is still on the guest.

Invited riders are already in town. David Moss, a well-known autonomy driver and video maker, posted from Austin that he had arrived with his father and expected to ride a Cybercab this week. Tesla has not published a guest list. Electrek reported last week that Tesla will livestream the night for people who are not in the room.

Monday’s paperwork is still the hard news under the one-word post. Teslarati, citing Texas DMV records, said Tesla Robotaxi, LLC went from seven Cybercabs on the automated vehicle list to 45. The VINs use a 5YJA prefix, distinct from the 7SAYG Model Y robotaxis that still do the paid work in six cities.

Tesla’s own Robotaxi page lists unsupervised rides in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. Hours, per Tesla’s Robotaxi account last week, are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days. Tesla Support still says hours vary by area. None of that copy names Cybercab as a vehicle class you can select in the app.

A one-word teaser two days out is how Tesla warms a room it has already invited. It is not a software note, a geofence, or a fare. Watchers who wanted a fleet number, a public-hail date, or confirmation that the right-hand seat will be empty on Thursday did not get it.

The event is still Sept. 3 at Tesla Austin, 1 Tesla Road. Until Tesla says more than one word, the accurate file is this: 45 Cybercabs on a Texas operator list, an Austin map Teslarati put at about 288 square miles, and an official account that today typed the name of the car.
